Student Performance Goal:
All students will improve their comprehension of nonfiction text in all content
areas.
Essences:
• Applying phonetic, phonemic awareness to decode letter combinations and
words
• Developing a comprehensive reading vocabulary.
• Reading, understanding, and responding to informational test in written form.
• Applying a variety of strategies to comprehend printed material to include
making connections, questioning, visualizing, inferencing, and synthesizing.
• Critical thinking skills to perform the kinds of information management and
communication technology literacy research tasks necessary for academic
success.
